Children aged 5 – 14 are invited to tour and learn about selected figurative sculptures with Lightner museum educators. Attendees of this informative look at sculpture will be engaged in truly looking at and understanding this 3-dimensional art form. Little Lightners (ages 5 – 9 accompanied by an adult) will meet from 10:00 – 11:30 a.m. to look at different types of sculpture to appreciate the stories being told. The Lightner Leaders program (designed for older kids ages 10 – 14) will meet from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m. to truly look at and comprehend the types and processes for creating sculpture. Each tour will be followed by an enjoyable model making activity. Tickets are $5 and reservations are required. Come join us Sunday, December 2nd at 10 am or 1 pm for Animal Exploration, ABC, a program for children ages 3 – 6, and their caregiver. Explore the Science and Technology gallery with a Lightner Educator, searching for animals in the collection. Some animals will be easy to find, others might be hidden in plain sight! After the exploration, use your creativity to make your own unique animal to take home. The class will meet in the Lightner Lobby before heading into the museum. The program will last 45 minutes. Guests are encouraged to stay after the program for our daily Music Demonstrations, occurring at 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.

Come explore the Lightner Museum’s newest exhibit “America’s Castles”, on Thursday, November 29, 2018, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. Showcasing collection pieces from the Gilded Age, a time of great wealth and industrialization in America, guests can simply peruse the ballroom gallery listening to the soothing sounds of local musician, Ramona or test their knowledge of history by trying an interactive gallery activity led by museum docents. At this free monthly social event, enjoy an early evening of refreshments, light hors d’oeuvres, and the elegant surroundings of this beautiful and unique historic museum during the Nights of Lights in St. Augustine.
This event is free and open to the public. Guests may enter at the Granada Street entrance to Café Alcazar(the entrances with the blue and white awnings, located across from the Corazon Cinema).
