BFA & BA Senior Portfolio Exhibition: April 27-May 3, 2021

The Crisp-Ellert Art Museum and Flagler College look forward to our bi-annual exhibition of work by B.F.A. and B.A. candidates in the Department of Visual Art. Native Art Department International: Jason Lujan and Maria Hupfield

Native Art Department International: Bureau of Aesthetics is currently on view through April 16. Native Art Department International (NADI) is a collaborative project created by Toronto-based artists Maria Hupfield and Jason Lujan. Bureau of Aesthetics was produced and organized by Mercer Union, Toronto, and is guest curated by Julia Paoli, Director and Curator.

Flagler Forum presenter Melanie Saltzman on “The Future of Food”

St. Augustine, Fla. – On Wednesday, March 11, in the Lewis Auditorium at Flagler College,
Melanie Saltzman, reporter and producer for PBS NewsHour Weekend, will present a lecture
titled, “The Future of Food.” This event is free and open to the public.
In her role at PBS, Saltzman reports, shoots and produces on a variety of issues, including public
health, the environment and international affairs.

Saltzman graduated from New York University in 2010 with a Bachelor of Science in Broadcast
Journalism and Global Communications. That same year, she was awarded a Fulbright
scholarship in Berlin, Germany. In 2015, she received a Master of Science in Journalism, with
concentrations in documentary video storytelling and interactive publishing, from the Medill
School of Journalism at Northwestern University.

Some of Saltzman’s most notable work includes her production of two stories for NewsHour’s
Emmy-nominated “America Addicted” series on the opioid epidemic. She has also reported on
climate change and migration from the Marshall Islands, covered landmine victim assistance
programs in Cambodia and traveled to Kenya and Tanzania for solutions-based reports.

For more than 30 years, the Flagler College Forum on Government and Public Policy has invited
nationally-recognized journalists and commentators to St. Augustine to discuss issues of
importance in regional, state and federal government. All Forums take place in Lewis
Auditorium, 14 Granada St., at 7 p.m.

Adler Guerrier: Wander and Errancies Exhibition Walkthrough and Opening Reception

We are pleased to announce our upcoming exhibition of new works by Miami-based artist Adler Guerrier. The exhibition, entitled Wander and Errancies, will include photographs, prints, collage, and objects that are informed by a line of thought set adrift in Saint Augustine. The artist will give a walkthrough of the exhibition on Friday, March 6 at 5pm, followed by an opening reception until 8pm.

Viewfinder: Edgar Degas’ Photographic Vision

Join Flagler College art history professor Chris Balaschak for a talk exploring the impact of photography on the Impressionists. As evidenced in our current exhibition Edgar Degas: The Private Impressionist, Degas regularly took and explored the possibilities offered by this new technology.  Professor Balaschak will discuss how Degas use of photography and its influence on his artwork. Tickets are $10 ($5.00 for museum members).
