Online Summer Art Camp is taught by artist, educator and professional story-teller, Debra Weller, and is geared towards students in both elementary and middle school. This camp offers weekly projects which allows students to work at their own pace, doing one or doing them all!

Projects will incorporate a variety of mediums and techniques to encourage art appreciation and critical thinking, as well as allow the students to experiment with their own creativity.

• BLOSSOMING BOTANICALS (Tuesday, March 17 | 9am-12pm) Explore the wonderland of tropical botanicals that surrounds us everyday. Study the notes of Botanical Pioneers like Martin Johnson Heade and Georgia O’Keefe to create your own lush gardens. (Painting, Drawing, Sculpture, Printmaking)

• POP GOES THE ART (Wednesday, March 18 | 9am-12pm) Push the limits of conventional art and design. Warhol, Lichtenstein, Britto and Harding didn’t think inside the box and neither will you! (Painting, Drawing, Sculpture, Digital Art)

Lightning Learning Lab: Degas, Prints, and I

Children aged 5-14 are invited to tour and learn about the different types of prints on view in the Museum’s collection and in the Edgar Degas: The Private Impressionist exhibition. Lightner museum educators will provide a richer understanding of the types of printmaking while encouraging young visitors to truly look and appreciate why artists choose to work in their selected print media. The tour will be followed by an enjoyable printmaking activity. Tickets are $5 for children. Reservations are required and space is limited.

Mother’s Day Afternoon Tea – “Thé français avec maman et Degas”

Treat mom to a special Mother’s Day Tea Party à la française replete with assorted teas, French sandwiches, sweet treats, floral crowns, and a children’s art activity to the accompaniment of a French musical performance by Epcot’s France Pavilion performer Jonita. Ticket prices include a rare glimpse of Edgar Degas: The Private Impressionist exhibition. Tickets are $40 for adults and $20 for children 17 years and younger. Reservations are required.
