Christmas Market

Local Crafters and a Chili Cafe
The Shores United Methodist Women is hosting their annual Christmas Market on Saturday, November 16th from 8 a.m. to noon. Bring your Christmas Shopping List and browse and shop all the Market Stores for remarkable low prices! The Bookstore has paperback and hardbound books, puzzles for all ages, games and children’s toys. The Crafters’ Showcase will feature handcrafted jewelry, fine handmade products of knitting and crochet items as well as other handmade articles by local crafters. For the home, the Christmas Shop features handmade and commercial Christmas decorations and the “This & That” Thrift Shop offers a large selection of gently used household items. As you browse, stop by the Chili Cafe and enjoy refreshments with a bowl of hot chili with accompaniments and visit the Bakery Shop for a variety of delicious homemade baked goods and treats. The Christmas Market will be held in the Christian Education Building on the church’s campus. There is plenty of free and accessible parking. Lightner Learning Lab: Degas, Prints and I

Children aged 5 – 14 are invited to tour and learn about the different types of prints on view in our Museum’s collection and in the Edgar Degas: The Private Impressionist exhibition. Lightner museum educators will provide a richer understanding of the types of printmaking while encouraging young visitors to truly look and appreciate why artists choose to work in their selected print media. Our tour will be followed by an enjoyable printmaking activity. Little Lightners (ages 5 – 9 accompanied by an adult) will meet from 10:00 – 11:30 a.m. and Lightner Leaders (ages 10 – 14) will meet from 2:00 – 3:30 p.m. Tickets are $5 for children with an additional $5 fee for parents living outside of St. Johns County. Music Fest 2019 – Vilano Beach

Plan a weekend stay this Mother’s Day in Vilano Beach, Florida! This year’s annual MUSIC FEST 2019 is set for Saturday, May 11th overlooking the beautiful Atlantic Ocean at the Vilano Beach Oceanfront Park. Bands featured at this Great Florida Event are “Peach Life” and “Not Quite Dead” – two of the area’s most popular groups celebrating the tunes of the Grateful Dead and Allman Brothers. Anyone can paint!! I will show you different techniques and how to find joy in the act of painting. Depending upon the needs of each class, I will teach about color, composition, and light and shadow, as well as exploring lots of cool painting techniques. Each student will start working on the same project and then we will branch out so that each student works on their own individual project, with my guidance.

High Tea and Crafts

The Sunset Circle at Shores United Methodist Church will once again hold a “High Tea & Crafts” on Saturday, February 16, 2018, between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. This very popular, free event will allow participants to sample a variety of traditional tea sandwiches, desserts, coffee and tea AND to learn a new craft or two. Areas will be set aside for crafting different items that could be used as gifts. The event is free and reservations are appreciated but not necessary. Call the church at 797-4416 to save your seat!
